Our history is London’s history
Pimlico Plumbers story began in 1979 with one man and one van. Our continued growth and evolution have led us to
become London’s no.1 in improving and maintaining properties. We are proud to have served Londoners for over 45 years

1979
The birth of Pimlico
Pimlico started out as a one-man band after the founder completed their apprenticeship with a second-hand van and a bag of tools solely serving the Pimlico area.
An increasing amount of work came from the recommendations of Pimlico Properties, a local estate agent in Sussex Street, who eventually offered Pimlico a small, dimly lit room in their basement as their first business premises. The ambition was to change the public perception of plumbing and build a reputation.

2000
TPimlico's new 30,000 sqft HQ
The end of the 90’s saw the business outgrowing Lambeth Road. Sights were set for something bigger, better and more complete: thus enter Sail Street.
Completely refitted with a high-tech call centre, multiple levels of office space, a vehicle wash bay and workshop, a state of the art gym, and a roof terrace. Sail Street has possibly become the biggest operation of a service company in London.

2004
Pimlico hire oldest worker in the UK
Buster was hired back in 2004 at the ripe age of 98 and became a publicity whirlwind.
After celebrating his 100th birthday at Pimlico, Buster went on to run the London Marathon in 2008 aged 101, making him the oldest person to complete the marathon. Among his later life achievements, Buster featured in a US film ‘How to Live Forever’ and had his own beer made ‘Buster Beers’!.
2006
First of the female plumbers
Paving the way to breaking the stereotypical mould of the plumber and helping to diversify the industry, we actively went on the search for suitable female candidates.
The introduction of the female plumber brought a new dimension to the business, allowing customers more choice which was especially appreciated by mums and the elderly.

2008
Apprentices join the ranks
From the very start, we advocated apprenticeships. Placements provide real life work experience, and candidates gain recognised qualifications.
Paving the way for a new generation of tradespeople and office staff, Pimlico’s training scheme has grown from strength to strength.

2017
250th van hits the road
Our rapid expansion continued with the arrival of our 250th van. Breaking tradition from blue and red livery, this van received blue and gold treatment to celebrate the milestone, along with the number plate VAN250.
Having recruited 50 tradespeople in the final three months and investing £500,000 in new vehicles, Pimlico were set to match the ever-increasing demand for their services.

2021
Pimlico joins the Neighbourly® family
